ADMISSION PROCEDURE

 

#  Candidates seeking admission to any H.S. and T.D.C. Course at Bihpuria College during the academic session 2019-20 may obtain the prescribed Application form along with the Prospectus downloading from the official site of Bihpuria College (www.blhpurlacollege.edu.in)on payment of Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred only).
# After submission of Admission forms, the candidates have to come personally for verification of their certificates and other necessary documents. Without verification of documents, admisslon can not be done.
# Last date for admission of duly filled-in form for admission in to H.S. and T.D.C. courses will be
notified In the College Website and Notice Board of the college.
# After a proper scrutiny of forms, list of selected candidates to all courses shall be displayed 0n the Notice Board of  the college and the wsbsite. No information to the selected candidates will  be  sent by post.
# Dates of admission in to various courses will be notified by the college authority in the Notice
Board and website.
# Admission to the college in any of the programmes and hostel is strictly on merit basis and subject to approval to the Principal.There is reservation for the students belonging to the category of SC, ST, OBC and  MOBC

BIHPURIA COLLEGE AN OVERVIEW

Bihpuria College situates at the lower part of Lakhimpur district of Assam and stands as a premier seat of learning. It has been imparting education exhibiting itself as a role model institution in every respect, since the day of Its inception on August 1, 1973. The college was brought under Deficit Grant-in-Aid system in the year 1985. Despite financial strains, natural calamities and hazards like flood, the college not only survived but also grew and achieved its distinction in terms of student’s enrolment, infrastructural facilities and academic excellence. Catering about 1000 students each year, Bihpuria College imparts equcation at undergraduate level in both Arts and Commerce Streams. Bihpuria College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University. Ours is a full fledged college with a band of dedicated and proficient faculty members who devote entirely for quality education. The College has been recognized as a centre for Distance Education learning under Dibrugarh University. The study centre for Distance Education at Bihpuria College offers admission into B.A. and B.Com. programmes wlth a view fo take education to as many people as possible, particularly in the rural areas.

COURSES OFFERED FOR STUDY

Bipuria College imparts education at two different levels. They are –
1. HIGHER SECONDARY (Arts & Commerce)
2.THREE YEARS DEGREE COURSE in Arts & Commerce (Choice Based Credit System).
1.1 DETAILS OF HIGHER SECONDARY COURSE IN ARTS
SUBJECTS OFFERED –
A COMPULSORY SUBJECT
English,MIL (Assamese and Alternative English)
 
B) ELECTIVE SUBJECTS
Advance Assamese,  Economcis, Education, Geography, History,Home Science, Logic and Philosophy, Mathematics , Political Science and Sociology.
 
DETAILS OF B.A. and B.COM PROGRAMME(CBCS)
 
1.3 The minimum eligibility for admission into the following Programmes:
a) Bachelor of Arts (B.A) : A student passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) of AHSEC or any equivalent examination (10+2) recognized as such by the University.
b) Bachelor of Commerce (8.Com) : A student passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) in Commerce Stream of AHSEC or any equivalent examination (10+2} recognized -as such by the University in commerce stream. A student passed the H.S. Examination (10+2 ) in Arts/Science Stream with Mathematics ,and/or Statistics is also eligible to apply for admission
COURSE STRUCTURE
 
2.1 The course structure of the Academic Programme under the CBCS shall be as given below :
a) Core Course : Compulsory components of an Academic Programme. These courses are to be compulsorily studied as a core requirement for the programme. The contents of the Core Course Is as per the UGC Model Curriculum for the subject
/discipline concerned, offered by the affiliating Dibrugarh University.
b) Elective Courses : Elective course shall be chosen by each student from a pool of courses. These courses may be intra-departmental, i.e. Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) as well as inter­ departmental, i.e. Generic Elective (GE). The students shall have lo choose minimum number of DSE and GE in every semester as prescribed 1n the Course Structure. These courses shall be :
(i) supporting to the discipline of study.
(ii) providing the expanded scope.
(iii)enabling an exposure to some other discipline/domain.
(iv)nurturing student proficiency/skill.
There shall be a basket of at least eight Elective Courses having equal number of credits. For the students of the same discipline/subjects these elective courses shall be intra-disciplinary and shall be called DSE Courses. If the students of other discipline/sub)ects (within the pro­ gramme) opt these electives shall be considered as inter-dicsiplinary and shall be called GE sourses.
Further, there may be few courses conducted under the UGC’S Programmes on massive open Online Courses (MOOC)s. The university may time fix the criteria for MMCs s per the relevant UGC Guidelines on digital education.
 
Abilhy Enhancement Comses ( AECI.
The Ability Enhancement Courses shall be of two kinds : ‘Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses’ and ‘Skill Enhancement Courses.’ These courses shall be inter-disciplinary (within the programme) in nature. ‘AEC’ Courses are the courses based upon the content that leads to Knowledge Enhancement.

RESULTS AND PROGRESSION

a) A candidate shall be declared as passed a course, provided he/she secures- (i) At least 40% of marks in each Course in the End Semester – Examinations (ii) At least ‘P’ grade in the 10 polht scale combining both the in-semester and End Semester Examinatioh performance. (iii) There shall be no separate pass mark for Internal Assessment. (b) A candidate shall be declared as passed a semester/programme, provided he/she secures at least ‘ P’ grade in the 1O point scale (given in elause) in all the Courses separately. (c) There may be moderation of Internal Assessment marks/End Semester marks as had when necessary. (d) The marks of In-semester Examinations obtained by the candidate shall be carried over for declring any result. (e) A candidate who fails or does not appear on one or more courses of any end semester examinations upto Sixth Semester shall be provisionlly promoted to the next higher semester with the failed course as carry over course(s). Such candidate will be eligible to appear in the carry over course in the next regular examinations of those courses. (f) If a candidate clears the sixth semester examination of that candidate shall be with held and his/her results shall be announced only after he/she clears the courses of the previous semesters. A student must clear all his/her Semester Examinations within Six (6) years from the Elates of admission to the First Semester of any Programme irrespective of the number of examinationa appeared by the student, viz. First and Second Semester Examinations shall have to be cleared in six consecutive chances, Third and Fourth Semester Examinations shall have to be cleared or, five consecutive chances and Fifth and Sixth Semester Examination in four consecutive chances. However, after the first enanee of the Fifth and Sixth Semester Examination, the candidate shall be consideted as a non-regular candidate.

GRADING SYSTEM

The absolute grading system shall be applled in evaluating performance of the students.

(b) The following scale of graciling system shall be applied to indicate the performances of students in terms of letter grade and grade points as given below :

PROGRAMME REGISTRATION

 

a) The candidates shall have to register themselves  to  the  University   at  the  time of admission clearly mentioning their course/subject combinations.

 

b) The students registered by the University as per information provided by the  college  shall  be treated as final. In no cireumstance, change of subject combination and switching from major programme and vise-versa shall be allowed.

 

c) All the students are to receive their College Identity Cards at the time of admission. Without the Identity Card, no students will be allowed to enter the college and attend classes.

 

d)  All  tobacco  productsare strictly prohibited inside the college campus.
