To provide affordable quality education while equipping students with knowledge and soft skills, inculcate values, identify hidden talents and provide opportunities for students to realize their full potential and thus shape them into future leaders, entrepreneurs, good speakers and above all good human beings.

To inculcate and practice the set vision of the affiliating university on the course along with our set and guided vision on the students’ community for catering the needs of the day for their better future.

 

Course Outcome

BA, English major Course has been designed by the Affiliating University itself. The college has to conduct the course. The major course of English Department of BA course is so designed as a part of an integrated course in English Literature, inclusive of MA in English. Students willing to pursue MA in English should take up this course. Entire BA course is under semester system, which falls into 6 semesters. It has 14 nos of papers in total. Each paper is of 100 marks out of which, 80 marks will be for the end semester examinations and 20 marks for the Internal Assessment.

Moreover, from June 2019, CBCS has been implemented all along with the Dibrugarh University inviting the change in the academic environment worldwide. The objective of this course is to acquaint the students with the rich cultural heritage of classical Indian and European Literature.Indian Writing in English is an important part of the course that familiarizes the students with Indian society, culture, history and politics. The course also introduces the students with British literary texts from the 14th Century to the contemporary time. They are taught various literary genres like prose, poems, plays, epics, etc. like Milton’s Paradise Lost, Rabindranath Tagore’s Geetanjali, and Bapsi Sidwa’s Ice-Candy Man.

The whole course of CBCS consists of the following structure of syllabi:-

ØCore: 70 credits (14x5) + 14 (14x1Tutorial) = 84 credits (14 courses)
ØDiscipline Specific Elective: 20 (4x5) credits + 4 (4x1Tutorial)= 24 credits (4 courses)
ØGeneric Elective: 20 (4x5) credits + 4 (4x1Tutorial)= 24 credits (4 courses)
ØAbility Enhancement Compulsory Course: 08 credits (2+2+4)= 8 credits (3 courses)
ØSkill Enhancement Course: 08 credits (4+4)= 8 credits (2 courses)

 

Programme Outcome

The programme is so designed that the successful students can pursue higher education, i.e. PG in English. After successful completion of the course, the students may also opt for other professional courses like MBA, Law and other allied subjects.

After completion of the course, students are eligible to apply for any administrative job, conducted by State Public Service Commission and Union Public Service Commission along with any other good job.

         COURSE OUTCOME

The course is so designed to make students graduates. They would be taught how to write English correctly, emphasizing Basic Skills in written communication. Apart from learning the use of language, the students would be expected to practice the different modes of writing and comprehension which shall include analysis and interpretation. A majority of the classes shall have to be devoted to working out of the exercises by the students.

 

PROGRAMME OUTCOME

After the successful completion of the course, the students may opt for other professional courses like MBA, Law and other allied subjects.

Ø  Difficult to reach in a voluminous class like AECC-1.

Ø  Tough to motivatestudents because of their rural background.

The department deals with the English language which is an International Language. Learning this language through the course content will help the students to have innumerable opportunities in various fields like- Teaching Profession, Media Industries, Administrative Services, and other professional areas, etc.
