Program Outcomes-Arts Stream:
The Bachelor of Arts requires three years of full time study
consisting of six semesters. The college offers 10 honours program- Assamese,
Economics, Education, English, Home Science, Geography, History, Philosophy, Political
Science, Sociology. The outcomes of these programs are to prepare students with
sound knowledge and skills across different disciplines and socio-cultural
boundaries. The program will enable students to critically analyze various
information’s relating to the subjects. The program will inculcate sound
ethical behavior with positive learning outcomes.
Program Specific outcomes:
1.Assamese:
The program will increase critical attitude on literary
studies and developing language. The program will enable students to understand
the Assamese culture and diversity. The program will inculcate the learners
with the knowledge of linguistic and history of Assamese language. The subject
encompasses archaeology, agriculture, tourism, folklore and indigenous
costumes. The program will enhance communicative and creative writing skills of
the learners. Besides the program will through an insight on legendary Assamese
poets and their contribution in transformation in Assamese society.
2.Economics:
The program will enable the learner to understand the basic
concepts of economics and its application. The subject will enhance knowledge
pertaining to different economic policies, economic variables, statistical and
mathematical models for their practical applications. The program will increase
the proficiencies of the learners for professional works in business, banking,
management and administration.
3.Education:
The program encompasses different perspectives of teaching,
psychology and allied aspects. The course acquaints the students with the
preparation and implementation of teaching methodologies. It also enhances the
knowledge and understanding pertaining to social-cultural aspects
4.English:
The program will familiarize students on English
literatures, its theories and criticism, and allied concepts. It will enable
learners to critically think and analyze cultural, historical and linguistic
aspect of English literature. The program will acquaint students with
cultural heritage of Indian literature, European cultural literature, American
and British literature. The program will give an insights on Indian writing in
English, about European drama, British drama and contributions of renowned
poets.
5. Geography:
The program encompasses human and economic geography,
oceanography, geomorphology, world geography, environmental geography,
cartography, statistic and planning. It will enable student to understand
various aspects of natural science. The program will help students to implement
their understanding on various data analysis including cartography and remote
sensing. The economic geography will enhance their knowledge on sustainable use
or natural resources for better future.
6. History:
The program will acquaints the learner in understanding the
sources of History in varied forms, uses and analysis, growth of human
civilizations, its basics and glimpses of Ancient world history. It deals with
the state formation process, polity and society both in medieval world and in
Indian context. The program will enable the students with the significant
developments in the world and changing cultural scenario in India. This program
will impart knowledge on the significant changes in the socio-political and
economic life in the world and also the political contributions in India. This
program will basically enhance the students with different school of thought
which ushered the great revolutions in Europe and the beginning of Colonial
dominion in India till its freedom.
7. Home Science:
Home Science is a Multidisciplinary subject. The programme is so designed to all round development of the girl’s students. So that the successful students can pursue higher education in different areas of Home Science, i.e. PG in Home Science and also in different field like diploma in fashion designing, interior decoration and also in different certificate courses. After successful completion of the course, the students may opt for other professional courses and also self employed in different field like Teachers in school, colleges, poly techniques ,hotel management institutions, dieticians in hospitals, nursing homes ,health club and guest houses, decorators in homes and hotels, designer in garments industry, Employment opportunities in baking industry, food service institutions, Crèches can be opened ,working in child and family welfare Organizations, As a trainer ,supervisor in Anganwadi centre, Integrated Child Development Schemes, under Indian Council of Child Welfare.
8. Philosophy:
This course is
designed to expose the students to the general philosophy. Which is explained
the basic concept and problems of philosophy.Logic & Scientific
Methodprovides the logical principles to make proper arguments. There different
scientific methods are procedures are includes in this course.Systems of Indian
Philosophyis concerned with the different views of traditional Indian
philosophical school. It is concerned with the orthodox and heterodox school,
the theory of causation, liberation, law of karma, epistemology, metaphysics,
and soul theory.History of Greek Philosophyis to provide the origin and
development of the Philosophy on the Greek sphere. The Pre-Socratic, Platonic
and Aristotelian conception of epistemology, ethics, causation, theory of ideas,
theory of forms and matters and etc in Greek philosophy.
9. Political Science:
The program will familiarize the students with the different
aspects of Indian politics and Government, public administration, Indian
constitution and international relations. The program will help to critically
think and analyze dynamics of Indian politics and contemporary political
phenomenon. It will provide an insight on recent trends of India’s foreign
policy. The program will acquaint students with concepts of human rights and
different challenges. It will also enable learners to critically think on
gender issues and formulation of policies to mitigate problems pertaining to
women issues.
10. Sociology:
Sociology seeks
to understand all aspects of human social behavior, including the behavior of
individuals as well as the social dynamics of small groups, large
organizations, communities, institutions, and entire societies. Sociologists
are typically motivated both by the desire to better understand the principles
of social life and by the conviction that understanding these principles may
aid in the formulation of enlightened and effective social policy. Sociology
provides an intellectual background for students considering careers in the
professions or business. An Honors Graduate student of Sociology should able to
develop: Critical Thinking: The
programme seeks to develop in students the sociological
· Knowledge and
skills that will enable them to think critically and imaginatively about
society and social issues. Sociological
Understanding: The ability to demonstrate sociological understandings of
· Phenomena, for
example, how individual biographies are shaped by social structures, social
institutions, cultural practices, and multiple axes of difference and
inequality. Written and Oral
Communication: The ability to formulate effective and convincing
· Written and
oral arguments. Better understanding of
real life situation: The ability to apply sociological concepts and·
theories to the real world and ultimately their everyday lives. Analytical thinking: Field survey and
preparation of dissertation paper is an inseparable
· Part of
Sociology Hons Programme. Students have to collect primary data for census as
well as his/her research topic and analyze the data to draw conclusions. So,
qualitative and quantitative analytical skills are enhanced.

Outcomes-Commerce Stream:
The Bachelor of
Commerce requires three years of full time study consisting of six semesters.
The college offers 2 honours program- Accountancy and Marketing. The objective
of the program is to impart knowledge and skills considered essential for
facing the challenges of the rapidly changing environment in the field of
trade, industry and commerce. The Department is also aimed at imparting
knowledge and skill to carry on independent research in the field of
Accountancy and Marketing. The program will enable students to critically
analyze various information’s relating to the subjects.
Program Specific
outcomes:
Accountancy:
The programme is
designed to provide the basis for developing the skills necessary to face the
challenges of job market. The course structure supports the process of
competency building of the students in attaining success in M. com and other
competitive examinations that the pass outs may appear in, and the course
structure takes care of both practical and theoretical dimensions.
- The students
will be ready for employment in functional areas like Accounting, Taxation,
Banking, Insurance and Corporate Law
- Students will
exhibit inclination towards pursuing professional courses such as CA/ CS/
CMA/CFA etc
- Students will
be able to handle computer based software in areas of Accounting, Taxation, and

Business Management (Marketing):
The program will enable the learner to understand the basic concepts of marketing and its application. The subject will enhance knowledge pertaining to different economic policies, economic variables, statistical and mathematical models for their practical applications. These objectives help a business set out what a business wants to achieve from its marketing strategy. The program will increase the proficiencies of the learners for professional works in business, banking, management and administration.
