B.A. Assamese Major Course has been designed by Madhabdeb University itself. The college has to conduct the course. The course is part of an integrated course in Assamese Language and Literature. The new course, to be introduced from the next academic session, FYUGP at Madhabdev University, will introduce students to new horizons in this rich language and literature by helping them develop the language's skills.
The programme is designed so that successful students can pursue higher education, i.e., a PG in Assamese. After successfully completing the course, students may opt for other professional courses such as Law, Journalism, Proofreading, etc. Students can also apply for any administrative job conducted by the UPSC or the APSC. Moreover, students can take the opportunity to learn in detail how to write Assamese correctly, study and explore the rich Assamese literature, and emphasise basic skills in written communication. Apart from learning to use language, the students would be expected to practice different modes of writing and comprehension, which shall include analysis and interpretation. A majority of the class shall be devoted to students working through exercises. Starting with the new semester in August, 2024, the college will introduce FYUGP courses under Madhabdev University, in parallel with the CBCS and FYUGP courses under Dibrugarh University, to which we were formerly affiliated. The new course will offer Assamese as a major and a minor for UG students.
